Everything you need to know about using Cascade. If you can't find the answer here, our team is just an email away.
Getting Started
Who can use Cascade?
Cascade is exclusive to university students and faculty. You must have a valid .edu email address from a supported university to sign up and verify your account. This ensures our community remains safe and trusted.
Selling Items
Is it free to sell items?
Yes! Listing items on Cascade is 100% free. We do not charge any listing fees, transaction fees, or take a commission. You keep every penny you make.
How do I edit my listing?
Navigate to the 'My Listings' page via the profile menu. Find the item you wish to change, and click the Pencil icon. You can update the price, photos, and description instantly.
Why are my photos failing to upload?
Please ensure your images are in JPG or PNG format and under 10MB each. If you are on a slow campus Wi-Fi connection, try uploading one photo at a time.
How do I mark an item as sold?
Currently, the best way to mark an item as sold is to delete it to prevent further inquiries. Go to 'My Listings' and click the Trash icon.
Do listings expire automatically?
Listings do not strictly expire, but they may be pushed down in the feed over time. We recommend deleting old listings if the item is no longer available to keep the marketplace clean.
What category should I choose?
Try to pick the closest match (Tech, Furniture, Clothing). If your item doesn't fit anywhere specific, use the 'Misc' category. Accurate categories help buyers find your items faster.
Buying & Safety
How do I pay for an item?
Payments are handled offline between the buyer and seller. We recommend using digital payment apps like Venmo, Zelle, or CashApp at the time of the meetup. Never pay for an item before you inspect it in person.
What if the item is broken or not as described?
You should inspect every item thoroughly before paying. Once the transaction is complete, Cascade cannot facilitate refunds. If a user intentionally scammed you, please report them to us immediately.
Where is the safest place to meet?
Always meet in public, well-lit areas on campus. Good spots include the University Center, the library lobby, or busy coffee shops. Avoid dorm rooms or private off-campus residences.
